In the roiling chaos of the Calamity, the ship known as Black Hammer, along with her crew, was torn to smithereens. All hands lost, reports declared after many moons. With that being the official record, organized search and rescue stopped looking. So when a large, half-mangled body washed up on some rocky shore, the beings that found it were not among those making said records - they were Kobolds.

Considerable damage had been done to the body, and the violence of the Calamity had robbed him of memory. The Kobolds nursed him back to health, and in time he regained strength enough to repay their kindness by helping in the mines. Gradually, his mind returned, and with it, memory of a promise made. With a fire lit beneath him, he bade farewell to his rescuers and set out to make good on said promise.

Time and circumstance made the search a long and difficult one. It took years. And then, much like their first meeting, the search ended in pure coincidence and happenstance. Upon Seal Rock, a chance meeting in a storm brought them together again - he and the Miqo'te woman he had meant to wed.

Time, again, was taken as they sought to regain their footing with one another. Though shaky at first, their legs had not forgotten the rhythm they had found together. In the moons and years to follow, their bond has been reinforced tenfold. They have largely closed the door on days of battle, and instead have put their backs into building a home. Adventure is not absent in their lives, however - it is transformed, reflected in the eyes of their children as they grow, learn, and live.
